President of the Supreme Audit Office of Poland at the SAO
Press Release – March 5, 2013
From 2nd February to 1st March, 2013, the Supreme Audit Office (SAO) was visited by a delegation from the supreme audit institution (SAI) of Poland led by Jacek Jezierski, President of SAI of Poland. Vice-President of the SAI of Poland Wojciech Kutyła was among members of the delegation from Poland as well. The delegates from the SAI of Poland were welcomed by Vice-President of the SAO Miloslav Kala and other representatives from the Czech SAO.
During the visit to the Moravian municipality of Křtiny, heads of both supreme audit institutions signed an agreement on a joint audit operation, which would aim at Operational Programme Cross-Border Cooperation the Czech Republic - Poland 2007-2013. On the basis of the agreement, a cooperated audit will be performed that would focus on selected projects founded from the Operational Programme. Czech and Polish auditors will focus on implementation structures, their settings, and functioning at the Ministry of Regional Development of the Czech Republic, which is the managing authority of the Operational Programme, and the Centre for Regional Development, which is responsible for selection, administration, and control of the projects.
Mutual Czech-Polish projects aimed at cross-border cooperation have been funded from the above mentioned Programme, which for example focused on developments in the tourist industry and transport infrastructure. Czech auditors will cooperate with colleagues from Opole, Katowice, and Wrocław subdivisions of the SAI of Poland.
Another topic discussed at the meeting was focused on auditing of local governments and State-owned enterprises. While auditors from Poland have already been performing audits of local governments for 19 years, the potential enlargement of the SAO´s powers will be again on the agenda of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. Since the SAO has been intensively preparing for potential enlargement of its powers, the meeting with Polish colleagues provided a valuable source of information and experience in this field.
In the end of the event, Vice-President of the SAO Miloslav Kala informed his Polish colleagues about plans to celebrate the forthcoming 20th anniversary of the SAO.
