11th meeting of the EUROSAI IT Working Group
On June 2–3, 2016, the Supreme Audit Office (SAO) organised 11th meeting of the EUROSAI IT Working Group (ITWG) in Prague, the Czech Republic. The ITWG aims to further the institutional sharing of expertise and experiences among supreme audit institutions in the European region, and to encourage the implementation of joint activities in the field of information technologies.
On the first day of the meeting, President of the Supreme Audit Office of the Czech Republic (SAO) Mr. Miloslav Kala spoke about the e-government and evaluated national informational systems, which are used in the Czech Republic.
Other presentations at the meeting focused on two important EUROSAI databases, which collect the information about IT audits. One of the databases, which only focuses on IT audits, is called “CUBE” and is managed by the supreme audit institution of Poland. The database also serves as an analysis tool addressing the said IT audits. The other database – the database of EUROSAI audits – is managed by the SAO and collects data about IT audits as well as audits in other areas, which are currently significant for EUROSAI member states. The ITWG also dealt with issues related to open data and ongoing parallel audits within the IT area.
On the second day of the meeting, the discussion was opened by the current ITWG Chairman and President of the Supreme Audit Office of Poland Mr. Krzysztof Kwiatkowski. The most important topics of the discussion were IT self-assessment and IT audit self-assessment, which involve systems that are necessary to improve the work of supreme audit institutions and the quality of IT audits.
In the end of the 11th meeting of the ITWG, the discussion tackled the topic of the ITWG’s involvement in the preparation of the new EUROSAI Strategic Plan for the period 2017–2023 as well as the preparation of a new strategy of the ITWG for the forthcoming period.
