An expert seminar held at the Senate to commemorate the SAO's 20th anniversary

On June 25, 2013, an expert seminar took place in the Main Hall of the Wallenstein Palace under the auspices of President of the Senate Mr. Milan Štěch. The seminar was organized to commemorate the 20-year’s existence of an independent supreme audit institution in the Czech Republic, as the Supreme Audit Office was founded by Act No. 166/1993 Sb., which came into effect on July 1, 1993.

Presentations given at the seminar focused on two main topics: 1) the development of the state financial controlling system, which resulted in a modern audit institution, 2) activities and heading of supreme audit institutions in the future. Among the speakers at the seminar were: President of the Czech Republic Mr. Miloš Zeman, President of the SAO Mr. Miloslav Kala, Vice-President of the SAO Ms. Zdeňka Horníková and leading managers of the SAO as well as several important guests from abroad and top representatives of foreign audit institutions.

Attendees agreed that it is essential to extend the controlling powers of the SAO by adopting the amendment to the Act on the SAO, which would widen the scope of audited institutions.
