International expert seminar Greening SAIs organised on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the SAO

On 25-26 September 2023, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Supreme Audit Office (SAO), an international expert seminar Greening SAIs was held in Prague. The seminar followed the meeting of the EUROSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) and emphasised sustainability aspects. Representatives of selected Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI), government officials and representatives of important institutions, SAO Members of and management staff, former SAO Members and representatives were invited to the seminar.
Before the event, the SAO President met with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Ms Marketa Pekarová Adamová, and the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Mr Miloš Vystrčil, whom he introduced to the Heads of the other SAIs. At the beginning of the seminar, Mr Petr Fiala, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, greeted the participants.
Presentations during the seminar included topics such as SAO’s international cooperation in the field of environment; the environmental management system (EMAS) at the ECA (European Court of Auditors); the results of the EUROSAI WGEA meeting in Prague or the results of the Greening SAIs survey. In one of the presentations, the SAO’s new headquarters, which was designed and built according to the principles of sustainability, was presented to the participants in more detail.
