Meeting of the Core Group 2 of the Contact Committee Working Group on VAT

On 27-28 June 2019, a meeting of the Core Group 2, a Working Group of the Contact Committee on VAT (CC WG VAT), was held in the headquarters of the Supreme Audit Office (SAO).
The Working Group of the Contact Committee was established in 2003 and the SAO has been an active member since its very beginning. Currently, SAO representatives are part of the Core Group 2, which deals with the issue of VAT evasion and mapping of current methods of detecting tax evasion and the applicability of these methods in EU Member States. Core Team 2 is composed of representatives of eight European Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI), the European Court of Auditors and the General Directorate for Taxation and Customs Union (TAXUD). The group is led by SAI Germany.
Information on the development of measures to combat VAT evasion, both at the European level and at the level of individual EU Member States, as well as legislative innovations in the field of VAT, developments in the area of e-commerce and the setting up of the final VAT system were discussed. During the meeting, the so-called automatic translators, which are being developed by Charles University in cooperation with the SAO for the XI EUROSAI Congress under the ELITR grant project, were also tested.
