Czech and Swedish Supreme Audit Offices discussed results of audits and mutual co-operation

Press release — 17.9.2019

A delegation of the Supreme Audit Institution of Sweden, headed by the Auditor General Helena Lindberg, visited the Supreme Audit Office on 10 and 11 September. Representatives of the SAO discussed with their Swedish colleagues the results of audits, the inclusion of the SDGs in audits and, last but not least, the co-operation of the two institutions.

The discussion focused on, for example, audit results of the health system, social housing, toll collection, agricultural subsidies, and other areas. The SAO also presented its Benchmarking Information Exchange Project to the Swedish colleagues. The objective of BIEP is to facilitate the comparison and information exchange among Supreme Audit Institutions. To date, 18 SAIs from European countries have joined the project so far.

Another topic of the meeting was the XI EUROSAI Congress which will be held in Prague in 2020. The following three years, the SAO will chair this organisation, which brings together 49 European SAIs and the European Court of Auditors. The SAO is now leading a working group on Strategic Goal 1 (SG1). Next meeting of the SG1 group will be held in Liberec in October. Representatives from the Swedish Supreme Audit Institution also pledged to participate.

The meeting between the Czech and Swedish Supreme Audit Institutions also dealt with the legislative rules for the activities of these institutions and their cooperation within the INTOSAI organisation, which brings together the Supreme Audit Institutions from all over the world.
