Jan Málek is officially the Vice President of the SAO. He was appointed by President Petr Pavel.

On June 20th 2023, President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel appointed Jan Málek to the post of the Vice President of the Supreme Audit Office (SAO). This happened after Málek was elected by the Chamber of Deputies in a secret ballot on May 31st 2023.
The term of office of the Vice President of the SAO is nine years. The Vice President of the SAO represents the President of the SAO in his absence and performs tasks assigned to him by the President of the SAO.
