New SAO Board Members took their oath of office before the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic
PRESS RELEASE ON THE OATH OF OFFICE OF THE NEW SAO BOARD MEMBERS – 18 June 2026
The SAO Board Members, Radovan Suchánek (aged 53) and Josef Kott (aged 55), took their oaths of office on Thursday, 18 June 2026, before Tomio Okamura, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, and thus assumed their new positions.
Radovan Suchánek, a lawyer by profession, is, among other things, an expert in constitutional and criminal law. From 2004 to 2006, he served as Deputy Minister of Health for Legislation, Oversight, and International Affairs. From 2013 to 2023, he was a judge on the Constitutional Court. In addition to his legal practice, he has also been active in teaching and publishing. Among other things, he is a co-author of the Commentary on the Act on the Supreme Audit Office and commentaries on the Constitution of the Czech Republic. Members of Parliament elected him to the SAO Board in a secret ballot on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, with 102 of the 166 Members present voting in favour of his election. He will replace Josef Kubíček on the SAO Board, whose term of office has ended.
In the same election on 27 May 2026, Josef Kott, a former member of the Chamber of Deputies representing the ANO Movement, was also elected to the SAO Board, receiving 131 votes from the Members of Parliament present. Josef Kott has many years of experience on the Chamber of Deputies’ Committee on the Budgetary Control. He was also a Member of the Committee on Agriculture. He previously worked at ZZN Pelhřimov, where he gradually worked his way up from a clerical position to become a Product Manager for Sales. He has been a Member of the Parliament of the Czech Republic since 2013. He is knowledgeable in the areas of subsidy policy and tender procedures. He has experience in crisis management. On the SAO Board, he will replace Pavel Hrnčíř, whose term has ended.
