The SAO and the Court of Auditors of Austria discussed the impact of audits and information sharing

Press release – 29 June 2018

Today, the Supreme Audit Office welcomed a delegation from the Austrian Court of Auditors, headed by its President Margit Kraker, at its headquarters. The SAO representatives discussed not only possibilities of mutual cooperation in the field of audit, but they also focused on the impact of audit work, possibilities of data sharing between SAIs, and open data in public institutions. The SAO also presented a vision for its future EUROSAI presidency to its colleagues from Austria.

The SAO and Austrian representatives discussed possibilities of cooperation on the Benchmarking Information Exchange Project (BIEP). In the framework of this project, the SAO wishes to develop tools and methodologies for SAIs to reliably share and compare relevant data from different countries.

Another topic of the meeting was the upcoming EUROSAI presidency of the SAO in 2020-2023. In 2020, the SAO will hold a congress in Prague for all the SAIs that are members of this organization.

The representatives of the Austrian Court of Auditors were also interested in open data in public administration, which is topical for their SAI as well. The SAO together with other public institutions held the first hackathon of public administration focusing on open data. The Austrian colleagues were informed about hackathon´s results and benefits for audit activities.
