The SAO President met with the President of Israel. The theme was how audit institutions can help to tackle current challenges

The SAO President Miloslav Kala attended the joint EUROSAI and ASOSAI conference in Israel on 11-14 March 2019. These organisations bring together supreme audit institutions in Europe and Asia.
The pivotal themes of the 3rd conference were emerging issues and emergency situations which the public has to tackle. As the first Vice-President of EUROSAI, Miloslav Kala opened the conference with a speech in which he mentioned the need for cooperation as well as surmises that the audit institutions should address.
“We realize that the world is interconnected more than ever, and many of the current challenges — whether we like it or not — reach beyond borders. Our response is cooperation and exchange of knowledge and information,” said President Kala. “The results of our work are audits and audit reports. Words contained in them can change a great deal. Let’s share our results. The better our work will be, the fewer problems the world will have,” he added.
Selected representatives of EUROSAI also met with the President of Israel, Re’uven Rivlin. At this meeting, on behalf of all the delegations involved, the SAO President emphasised the need to exchange relevant information and to cooperate more intensively. Mr Yosef Shapira from the State Comptroller´s Office of Israel followed up on Mr Kala’s words: “Sharing knowledge and working together make us stronger when we are facing a changing reality.”
