PRESS RELEASE ON THE SAO PRESIDENT’S AWARD CEREMONY – 3 October 2024
The President of the Supreme Audit Office, Miloslav Kala, presented the SAO President's Award on Thursday 3 October 2024 at the SAO headquarters in Prague. Among the four awardees was Cermat director, Miroslav Krejčí, who received the award for creating the DiPSy digital enrolment system for secondary schools.
"I appreciate outstanding merits or actions that help improve the functioning of public administration, change established patterns or set more effective rules. Today's awardees are different people with different professional backgrounds, and even from different countries. But they have one thing in common - motivation. They didn't put up with the bad situation, they found the courage, picked up their heads and got their way. The results of their work are tangible, inspiring and changing our world for the better. And for that they deserve recognition," said the SAO President, Miloslav Kala, at the beginning of the event.
The director of Cermat, Miroslav Krejčí, received the SAO President's Award for the development of the DiPSy digital enrolment system for secondary schools. "Miroslav Krejčí showed extraordinary determination and commitment while creating DiPSy. He had the courage to choose a solution that was unusual in the context of the state administration and undoubtedly risky in terms of his career. He also earned respect by the calmness with which he defended the results of his work," said Miloslav Kala.
The award was also presented to Enriqueta Chicano Jávega, President of the Supreme Audit Institution of Spain, for her significant contribution to the successful and smooth running of the Czech Presidency of EUROSAI from 2021 to 2024. According to Kala, the EUROSAI Secretariat under her leadership was an open and supportive partner that helped the Czech Presidency with the implementation of new procedures and modernisation elements.
Jaroslav Rucký, an employee of the SAO's International Department, was awarded for his successful leadership of the Czech EUROSAI Presidency team, especially for his exceptional work commitment and for achieving excellent results together with his team throughout the entire Presidency. In addition to Rucký's professionalism, Kala also praised his diplomatic skills and his unmistakable optimism. The second of the Office's staff to be awarded was the Director of the Performance Audit Department, Štefan Kabátek. He received the award for the creation and development of the BIEP portal, thus making a major contribution to deepening international cooperation, sharing good practice and sharing methodology and data among Supreme Audit Institutions.
The design of the SAO President's Award came out of a competition among students of the Institute of Design at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University. The winning design by designer Marie Cikhartová works with the detail of a magnifying glass as a symbol of exact investigation of the state of affairs. These appear in detail, the hidden is revealed and the seemingly invisible emerges into living reality. The first laureates received the SAO President's Award last year on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the SAO.
