Meeting of representatives from supreme audit institutions of the V4+2 states

PRESS RELEASE – 27.5.2015

From May 20 to 21, 2015, a meeting of top representatives from supreme audit institutions (SAIs) of the Visegrad Four (V4) countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia), Austria, and Slovenia took place in Kobior, Poland. The hosting SAI of Poland also invited delegates of Croatian State Audit Office as observers. Ms. Elżbieta Bieńkowska, European Commissioner for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), also attended the meeting.

On the agenda of the meeting were issues of the co-operation among the V4+2 states within the field of auditing, their roles in the management of public funds at national levels, and relations with partnership institutions of EU, e. g. European Court of Auditors and European Commission.

At the meeting, individual SAIs’ powers during follow-up audits were talked over and attendees also discussed how the processes of translating their recommendations into practice are observed. Attendees also discussed about the SAIs’ authorizations to pass on the information of their works’ outcomes to all involved persons and about cooperation with law enforcement authorities. Last but not least, there was a presentation of the outcomes of a survey into effectiveness of individual recommendations drawn from the SAIs auditing operations.
