Miloslav Kala became the Vice-President of the SAO

Mr Miloslav Kala was appointed as Vice-President of the Supreme Audit Office (SAO). President of the Czech Republic Václav Klaus nominated Kala, who had previously been a deputy of the Czech Social Democratic Party, on the proposal of the Chamber of Deputies. Having taken the ceremonial oath Kala took up the vice-presidential office on November 13, 2008. During the appointment ceremony, Václav Klaus also remarked that the SAO had become a trustworthy and well respected institution since its establishing in 1993.
Miloslav Kala, born in 1963, graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Brno University of Technology in 1988. In 2000 Kala was elected a mayor of Blansko, and became a deputy representing the Southern Moravia Region in 2002. He chaired the Mandate and Immunity Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and was a member of the Committee on Economic Affairs too.
Kala resigned from his deputy mandate before becoming the SAO’s Vice-President as required by the Constitution. The vice-presidental position at the SAO had been vacant since Dušan Tešnar had resigned from the function on September 10, 2007.
