Presentation of findings and evaluation of the VAT parallel audits

Press Releases – October 27, 2011

On October 19, 2011, a presentation of findings and evaluation of parallel audits, which aimed at administration of Value Added Tax (VAT), took place at the Supreme Audit Office (SAO). The second parallel audit was conducted within years 2008–2010 by two supreme audit institutions: the SAO and the Federal Court of Auditors – Bundesrechnungshof (BRH).

The follow-up audit of the administration of VAT in the Czech Republic and in Germany was carried out by experts from SAO and BRH who cooperated during the auditing operations and released the final report. The audit experts from the SAO and the BRH organized the presentation at the SAO to inform other colleagues of their findings.

Among the topics covered at the presentation were selected cases of high risk intra-Community transactions, mutual assistance for the recovery of claims, and the VAT audit of large tax entities. In the end of the presentation, presenters summed up that parallel audits bring significant benefits to the supreme audit institutions, which are willing to expand on cooperation within this field in the future.
