President Dohnal conferred in Slovenia
Press Release – October 22, 2007
Chief representatives of supreme audit institutions (SAIs) from member countries of the Visegrád Group (V4), and from Austria and Slovenia met in Strunjan, Slovenia, on October 15 and 16, 2007. František Dohnal, president of the Supreme Audit Office of the Czech Republic (SAO), took part at this meeting as well.
The topics of the regular autumn meeting related to partnership of audit institutions at the level of the European Union. The participants informed about their attitudes towards the on-coming conference of the Contact Committee of presidents of those institutions, which is about to take place at the beginning of December in Helsinki, Finland. The assembled presidents also discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation of their countries.
President of the SAO informed his colleagues about results of a previously completed joint audit operation that focused on the consumption tax, which had been performed by auditors from Slovak and Czech SAIs. Dohnal opened the debate about experience of the present SAIs with judicial cooperation with criminal procedure bodies and with audits of public organizations and budget organizations. The forenamed issues are going to be among the discussion topics for the following meeting of SAI presidents, which will take place in Austria next year.
