President of the Czech Republic sees no issue in the current operation of the SAO
Press Release – May 12, 2008
"President Václav Klaus said he could not upbraid the operation of the Supreme Audit Office (SAO). The SAO fulfils its functions without an appointed vice-president, as we could see in other European countries,“ said František Dohnal, president of the SAO, on May 7, 2008, after a hearing at the Prague Castle.
"The topic of the prospective vice-president of the SAO was not on a talking point of the meeting. It is a concernment for the Parliament as the matter lies within its powers. I am not supposed to intermeddle with it,“ said Dohnal.
During the meeting, Dohnal handed in the 2007 Annual Report of the SAO, which claims among other things that the financial management of the state assets still keeps its unsatisfactory nature. Several features recur thus showing the insufficiency of the existing sanction methods. "President Klaus was concerned in organisation of the auditing activities of the SAO and in using the known experience from abroad and from European auditing standards," said Dohnal who drew president's attention to more details of the 2007 Annual Report.
