President of the SAO handed in the 2008 Annual Report to the Prime Minister
Press Release – March 12, 2009
On a scheduled meeting with the Prime Minister, president of the Supreme Audit Office (SAO) František Dohnal handed in the 2008 Annual Report of the SAO. The Annual Report summarizes the information on 38 last year’s audit operations, which aimed at the state property and state budget funds in the amount of CZK 158 milliard. The Annual Report was submitted to both chambers of the Parliament and to the Prime Minister on March 12, 2009.
“The SAO cannot audit absolutely all activities as such a target would be beyond our reach and ineffective. Neither should auditors find insufficiencies at all cost. The main purpose of our institution is to check the accuracy of the state financial operations and perform audits for adequate expenses and with significant statistical data at the same time. The SAO should provide background details for necessary changes in the proceedings if need required“, said Dohnal.
The Annual Report brings the most important details on management of the state’s assets and property, on the state budget funds, and on financial resources, which flow in the Czech Republic from the European Union.
