Prime Minister Topolánek visiting SAO
Press Release – September 3, 2007
When taking up the office, present Prime Minister of Czech Republic, Miroslav Topolánek, promised to meet and discuss audit results with president of the Supreme Audit Office (SAO), František Dohnal. To keep the promise, Topolánek arrived at the new office building of SAO on September 3, 2007.
Last year, Dohnal and Topolánek concluded that ministries should add supplementary correction lists to audit reports from SAO, and these would be negotiated over together with the audit results during government meetings.
“We did reach the same point of view. There has been an advancing trend with the government meetings: Prime Minister persistently aims for the government decrees to contain imposing parts as well. Today, we agreed that Prime Minister would ask ministries to include concrete terms into the correction lists. The terms should be disputed at the government meetings too. This way, a prospective realisation of corrections could be treated separately. Another topic of my talk with Prime Minister was a possibility for ministries to counsel diverse opinions on audit results with SAO before the government meetings, “ said Dohnal.
“We also agreed on exchanging the information about SAO activities that would demand legislative or law amendments. SAO has repeatedly come across such problems. Topolánek promised to consider the situation. He reputedly seeks an explicit improvement of the current situation,” said Dohnal.
