The Supreme Audit Office (SAO) representatives led by the president, František Dohnal, took part at the 5th EUROSAI/OLACEFS conference, which was held from May 9th to 12th, 2007, in Lisbon, Portugal. The main topics of the conference were fiscal policy, bill submitting, and responsibility.

Among more than 180 participants of the conference were delegates from European an Latin American supreme audit institutions and the European Court of Auditors (ECA) representatives headed by the president of ECA, Hubert Weber. “Participation in this programme gave us a lot of useful knowledge about the fiscal policy field, as well as the topics of budget reforming, accountancy, and social reforms. We attended several contributing presentations. In the end, we were given recommendations that had developed during our discussions about role of government auditing institutions in consideration of public expenditures. We could compare some of our experience. Particularly interesting was the presentation given by the governor of the National Bank of Portugal, as it reviewed the progression of convergent criteria for the monetary union of European Union“ said František Dohnal, the president of SAO.
