The SAO to host an international seminar

An international seminar on "Presentation and Measurement of National Government’s Assets with Special Attention to IPSAS" will be held at the Supreme Audit Office (SAO) in Prague from May 14 to 16, 2008. The seminar will be organized in connection with the planned reform of accountancy, which can significantly affect auditing operations to be conducted by the SAO in the future.

The seminar will focus on evaluating, estimating, and assignment of the government’s assets in countries with accrual accounting systems. The presentations are to be given by delegates from the European Court of Auditors, International Federation of Accountants, and from supreme audit institutions, which are member countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Representatives from Chamber of Auditors of the Czech Republic, from the Union of Accountants, and from the University of Economy in Prague are coming to the seminar too. The presentations and discussions will be held in English.

Programme of the seminar covers six topics:

  1. Introduction

  2. IPSAS: global financing reporting standards
  3. Financial reporting in countries using cash basis of accounting (with attention to assets)
  4. National government's assets in accrual accounting systems different from IPSAS
  5. National government's assets in accrual accounting systems derived from IPSAS
  6. Accountancy reforms in selected countries.
