Press Release – April 19, 2010
On April 13 and 14, 2010, vice-president of the Supreme Audit Office Mr. Miloslav Kala visited the supreme audit institution (SAI) of Germany – the Bundesrechnungshof (BRH). Miloslav Kala met with BRH’s vice-president Mr. Norbert Hauser and other representatives of the BRH’s headquarters in Bonn.
During the meeting, both the SAIs’ representatives introduced their previous audit activities and summed up the state and results of their bilateral cooperation. Topics of the talks included some audit findings within the field of transport infrastructure, government contracts and the related issue of the anti-corruption measures. Representatives of the BRH illustrated their conclusions from audits related to large investment ventures, e.g. the complex reconstruction of the railway junction in Stuttgart and development and enlargement of several motorway sections within the Federal Republic of Germany.
In the end of the meeting, the representatives of the German SAI expressed their wish to plan and carry out more coordinated audits with the SAO in order to exchange professional information and experience. Details about the planned cooperation will be specified during a subsequent meeting of audit sections of both the SAIs. All participants appreciated the chosen topics of the discussion and found the meeting’s outcome considerably beneficial to their future activities on national and international levels.
