The final account of the Council for Radio and TV Broadcasting poorly stated

Press Release – April 22, 2008

Auditors from the Supreme Audit Office (SAO) focused on the details of the 2006 final account of the Council for Radio and TV Broadcasting and data used for the closing account of the state budget chapter No. 372 – Council for Radio and TV Broadcasting. The audit was conducted from November 2007 till February 2008.

The Council for Radio and Broadcasting kept poor booking in 2006 in contradiction with the accountancy law and delegate legislature as incorrect booking entries and improper methods had been applied.

The account balance put together in the end of 2006 could not base a reliable final account of the state budget chapter. All inadequacies of the audited body - the Council for Radio and TV Broadcasting were expressed numerically in the final account. The total inaccuracy of the 2006 final account of the Council amounted to CZK 41,3 million.

"The high range of the incorrectness found during the audit operation should eventuate in immediate corrective actions, which could prevent such erroneous booking in the future. Further on, the Council is in bad need for bringing their internal audit system into harmony and conformity with the law of financial auditing within the public administration field," said František Dohnal, president of the SAO.

The audit operation was included into the 2007 Audit Plan of the SAO under No. 07/28. Jan Vedral, Member of the SAO Board, controlled the operation and drew up the audit report as well.
