PRESS RELEASE – May 25, 2017

On May 24, 2017, delegates at the Congress of EUROSAI, which was organized in Istanbul, Turkey, elected the Supreme Audit Office of the Czech Republic (SAO) to exercise the EUROSAI presidency in the period 2020–2023. As a result, the SAO is going to host 11th EUROSAI Congress in 2020 and in the following three-year term, the SAO is going to lead this organisation, which groups together 50 supreme audit institutions (SAIs) from Europe. President of the SAO will thus become President of EUROSAI for the same period. President of the SAO Mr. Miloslav Kala has already become a member of the Governing Board of EUROSAI as he has been holding the office of Vice-president of the Governing Board since the SAO’s election. The presidency is an opportunity for the SAO’s to improve its cooperation possibilities as well as an opportunity to present the Czech Republic abroad.

The SAO sees the EUROSAI presidency as an appreciation of its recent international activities. Under the SAO’s presidency of the EUROSAI in the period 2020–2023, the SAO would like to encourage a more efficient functioning of this important organization. The main vision of the SAO would be the concept of 3 C – communication, cooperation, and comparison, which should be key features of any successful cooperation. Within the frame of the presidency, the SAO would like to aim at making the communication among individual SAIs easier and result-oriented. Last but not least, the SAO would like to support comparisons between information reported by individual SAIs, so that they gain the greatest added value.
